@Jason Politte: The cycle trail passes several historic gold mining sites. In the 1890s, several gold mining companies erected batteries and cyanide plants and I imagine these are bits and pieces left over from the operation

@marc battault: Yes a long history, it would date back to 1890s when there were several gold mining companies along this route.
