Well seen! Is that fringing on the lens on the sea, or a natural effect?

26 Jul 2010 5:26am

@CElliottUK: Thanks - no not fringing but vegetation in the distance

Pavan Kaul from Mumbai, India

Frances this is again a very lovely image...the bleak atmosphere, a weak sun in the curtain of heavy clouds and the brooding earth...beautifully made!

26 Jul 2010 5:32am

@Pavan Kaul: Thanks Pavan, the sun making a break from behind the clouds is always such a hopeful sign. The low mist burnt off really quickly and it turned ito a beautiful day:)

Good afternoon Frances,
It's interesting how you have together the Sun and Earth, captured in an image. I like it very much. Have a nice day and all the best. Dear greetings Christel

26 Jul 2010 11:30am

@Christel: Thanks Christel, it would have been easy to crop the earth out of the image, but I felt it needed to be there. Enjoy your day:)

♏arleen from Netherlands

And this sun action is always very welcome...;-))

I don't know why, but this shot really gives a feeling of freedom and immensity ! Very well done, and perfect title also ;) Have a nice day Frances :)

26 Jul 2010 12:25pm

@Tamara: Thanks Tamara, I think leaving the little glimpse of the earth in the frame makes it look immense and I agree with you freedom - the sun is breaking through. Enjoy your day:)

Bettina from Los Angeles, United States

That's a wonderful shot! We see this so often in life and rarely in picture. That sun burn capture is great.

26 Jul 2010 1:04pm

@Bettina: Thanks Bettina - I had not put on the ND filter yet, so was lucky to get such a crisp round sun:)
