Masons Rock, Lake Taupo

Posted by
kiwisa (North Shore, New Zealand) on 16 October 2016 in Plant & Nature.

Mason's Rock is a unique fan of volcanic rock emerging from Lake Taupo. This is the interior structure of a rhyolite dome, showing a radial pattern of cracks formed after the big quake as the lava cooled.
