#8 Serengeti - Wildebeest everywhere

Posted by
kiwisa (North Shore, New Zealand) on 8 November 2018 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

My main reason for returning to Serengeti this year, was to see some of The Great Migration, as we were just not far enough north last year. We had the most incredible guide, Bariki, who was determined to find us some wildebeest....and he did. This was one of the first sightings, we saw 1000's more over the next few days.

It's impressive when you can see a transhumance of wildebeest, the earth makes a thud and dust sometimes covers part of the herd. I find a little that in your image

Wildebeest, through sheer numbers help keep many animals alive and are a magnificent sight to see when they are on the move. Excellent image.

@Shaun: It is a magnificent sight, but the infrastructure of the zebra, buck etc that travel with the migration as they all have a role to play, is so interesting.

What an absolutely fantastic experience that must have been! And to be able to record it happening with one's own camera - mind-blowing!

@dobbino: I know Rob, needs to be on your bucket list. So glad we went back to see it.
