#17 Serengeti - Nile Monitor/lizard

Posted by
kiwisa (North Shore, New Zealand) on 17 November 2018 in Animal & Insect.

Yet another 'first sighting'. Almost missed this as he moved really quickly into the water when our vehicle got close, so not a great photo.
The Nile monitor is a black and yellow lizard with an elongated head and a flat tail to aid in swimming. Juveniles are usually more vividly coloured than adults.

Just a couple of weeks ago one such a huge thing just appeared from the bushes across my way and the appearance was all of a sudden and that too when it was getting dark and that left me frightened.
