#24 Serengeti - Little bee eaters

Posted by
kiwisa (North Shore, New Zealand) on 24 November 2018 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

The little bee-eater (Merops pusillus) is the smallest bee-eater species in Africa, a colouful little bird with a green back. It has a thick black eye line that stretches through a deep red eye. There is a small blue brow on top of the eye line. It has a yellow throat and an orange belly, which is separated by a black collar. Underwing feathers are orange with a black line along the edge and are seen when in flight.
